Permission to Play and Belong: Unmasking the Myth of Mental Health

In honor of Men’s Mental Health Month, this class invites participants to explore the unseen emotional burdens men carry, the pressure to appear strong, and the ways childhood experiences can shape how we cope and protect ourselves as adults.

Through a hands-on baking class, participants will give themselves permission to slow down, reflect, and engage with the idea that healing begins when we stop masking pain and start naming it. The class centers on the inner child, by creating a space to examine unresolved wounds, unspoken needs, and the importance of nurturing the parts of ourselves that may have been overlooked or taught to stay silent.

Led by Sarah Reid, MSW, SSW of Flavorful Creations and Derrick Marshall, LMSW of Invictus Mental Health Counseling, this class reminds participants that mental health is not weakness and vulnerability is not failure. Healing is possible when we allow ourselves to be seen. This can be a great Father's Day gift or for any one raising son(s).

ALL ATTENDEES will be provided with a great experience, light refreshments and a free 30-minute counseling session on behalf of In The Business of Food.
